Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert has been suspended for one game without pay after he picked up his seventh flagrant foul of the season Friday night during his team’s game against the Dallas Mavericks in Minneapolis, the NBA announced Saturday.
Unless the Timberwolves appeal the suspension, Gobert will miss Sunday night’s home contest against the Philadelphia 76ers after he was called for a flagrant foul for hitting Mavericks forward Marvin Bagley III in the head and neck in the second quarter of the Timberwolves’ 122-111 victory.
The NBA hands out a one-game suspension for any player who is assessed six flagrant fouls in a season, plus an additional contest for every flagrant after that. This would be Gobert’s second one-game ban for a flagrant in the 2025-26 campaign. His first suspension came last month after he received his sixth flagrant foul during Minnesota’s home win over the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 11.
On Friday night, Gobert finished with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and three blocks vs. Dallas. He is averaging 11.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game this season.
